We can use the word half with the preposition of. I.e. we can say half of the pupils
Слово half можем использовать с предлогом of. Т.е. можем сказать half of the pupils － половина учеников.

All   some   any    most    much/many    little/few

The words all some any most many/much little/few are also used, for example:
Также используются слова all   some   any    most    much/many    little/few, for example:

• Most of my relatives -большинство моих родственников,
• None of this is true — Все это неправда.

These words (all of, some of, most of, …) require putting an article after them, either an indicative or possessive pronoun, or a possessive case, examples:
Эти слова (all of, some of, most of, …) требуют поставить за ними артикль, либо указательное или притяжательное местоимение, либо притяжательный падеж, примеры:

• some of the pupils — некоторые из учеников (не ‘some of pupils’)
• any of these animals — любое из животных (не ‘any of animals’)
• much of its juice — большая часть сока (не ‘much of juice’)
• few of brother’s toys — несколько игрушек брата (не ‘few of toys’)

All, some, any, … + noun

The above words (all some any most much/many little/few) we use with nouns, for example:
Вышеперечисленные слова (all   some   any    most    much/many    little/few) мы используем с существительными, например:

• some coffee − немного кофе
• few toys − несколько игрушек
• All cats are grey at night − Ночью все кошки серые
• Some dog breeds have their tails and ears cut off − Некоторым породам собак обрезают хвосты  уши
• Many students prefer to go home on vacation − Многие студенты предпочитают на каникулах съездить домой

The weather was rainy. We spent most  holidays at home − Погода была дождливой. Большую часть каникул мы провели дома
Мы не можем сказать ‘all of cats’, ‘some of dog breeds’

It is worth noting that we use the word ‘most’ without the article ‘the’:

Стоит заметить, что мы употребляем слово ‘most’ без артикля ‘the’:

• Most students were at the lecture − Большинство студентов были на лекции.

Half of или half

For ‘all’ and for ‘half’ it is not necessary to put ‘of’ after them. You can build a sentence without this preposition:
Для ‘all’ и для ‘half’ необязательно ставить после них ‘of’. Можно и без этого предлога построить предложение:

• All my friends will be at this match − Все мои друзья будут на этом матче

Либо ‘All of my friends’

• Half the coins fell out of his hands − Половина монет выпала у него из рук

Либо ‘Half of the coins’

For comparison (для сравнения):

• All students are wearing blue T-shirts − Все студенты одеты в синие футболки (все студенты в общем)
• All of the students in this group are wearing blue T-shirts − Все студенты в этой группе одеты в синие футболки (в определенной группе)

The words ‘all of’, ‘half of’, ‘some of’, … are followed by the object pronouns ‘them, you, us, it’:
После ‘all of’, ‘half of’, ‘some of’, … следуют объектные местоимения ‘them, you, us, it’:

• Some of us will take the train − Некоторые из нас поедут поездом.
• None of them were late − Никто из них не опоздал.
• Do you like such films? — Not all of them − Тебе нравятся такие фильмы — Не все.

All, some, any, … without noun

The words all some any many much/many little/few can be used without a subsequent noun:
Слова all   some   any    most    much/many    little/few можно использовать без последующего существительного:

• Some bicycles have two wheels, and some have three − У велосипедов два колеса, а у некоторых три.
• A few of the songs were sad, but most were fun − Несколько песен были грустными, но большинство — веселыми.
• We will take half of the harvest to the city, and leave half here at the cottage − Половину урожая отвезем в город, а половину оставим здесь на даче.
